Course: SIS30315 Certificate III in Fitness
Intake: 2018 dates to be confirmed
Course Description: This qualification is designed for individuals who have an interest in commencing a career in the fitness industry.
Duration: This qualification is facilitated over 21 weeks from January to July 21017. Training will be delivered face to face 9:00am – 4:00pm 1 day per week between Monday and Friday during the school term and 5 days per week for the first week of term 1 and term 2 school holidays.
Selection Process: Apply directly to SEDA Group
Eligibility: Individuals who completed year 12 in 2016. All applicant must be a minimum of 18 years of age to enrol.
Career Opportunities After successful completion of the SIS30315 Certificate III in Fitness, students may obtain employment as a Gym Instructor.
Further Study Options: Students may use this qualification as a pathway to complete SIS40215 Certificate IV in Fitness.

Course: SIS40215 Certificate IV in Fitness
Intake: August 2017
Course Description: This qualification reflects the role of personal trainers who have specialist skills to train individual clients, or groups of clients, on a one-on-one or group basis to improve health related components of fitness in relatively low risk situations. This may include the training of older clients and children.
Duration: This qualification is facilitated over 28 weeks from August to January 2018. Training will be delivered face to face 9:00am – 4:00pm 1 day per week between Monday and Friday for the first 11 weeks, then 2 days face to face delivery from week 13 for the remainder of the course. Students are further expected to undertake additional self-paced work and practical placement hours (40 hours) within their own time.

Eligibility: Entry to this qualification is open to individuals who hold a current first aid and CPR certificate and have been recognised as competent through a recognised training program or recognition process against the following units of competency:

SISFFIT001 Provide health screening and fitness orientation

SISFFIT002 Recognise and apply exercise considerations for specific populations

SISFFIT003 Instruct fitness programs

SISFFIT004 Incorporate anatomy and physiology principles into fitness programming

SISFFIT005 Provide healthy eating information

SISFFIT006 Conduct fitness appraisals

SISFFIT014 Instruct exercise to older clients

SISXCCS001 Provide quality service

All applicant must be a minimum of 18 years of age to enrol.

Career Opportunities This qualification provides a pathway to work in a diversity of fitness industry businesses including fitness centres, gyms, aquatic facilities, community facilities and in open spaces, where risk management (through risk assessment and hazard control processes) does not already exist.
Further Study Options: Students who complete this course may wish to continue their education into such courses as the SIS50215 Diploma of Fitness (after obtaining at least one year post qualification fitness industry experience in the application of skills and knowledge of the Certificate IV in Fitness) or other Diploma level programs from the Sports, Fitness and Recreation Training Package, with external providers.
