OPPORTUNITY STARTS HERE

At SEDA we offer industry-based Diplomas connected to elite sporting clubs.
Hear some advice from current Sports Industry Program students about the journey after Year 12.

STUDY A DUAL DIPLOMA

The dual Diploma allows you the opportunity to study a curriculum matched to your interests, complete a practical placement, run projects interstate or abroad, and undertake a customised, sport-specific high-performance program designed for you.

Our strong connection to industry will provide you with the opportunity to connect with leading sport, fitness and recreation organisations whilst learning from industry experts, coaches and elite athletes.

Upon successful completion, you will have the opportunity to move into further study with a range of higher education providers or to transition into the workforce, equipped with the knowledge and skills for a successful future.

Dual Diploma program comprising the:
• SIS50319 Diploma of Sport
• BSB50215 Diploma of Business

These qualifications are trained and assessed by SEDA Group.

The VET Student Loan program is available for the SIS50319 Diploma of Sport & BSB50215 Diploma of Business. In 2021, the maximum tuition fees are: SIS50319 Diploma of Sport – $10,172.80 & BSB50215 Diploma of Business – $5,808.00.

A VET Student Loan will not be approved for students who do not meet eligibility requirements. A VET Student Loan gives rise to a VETSL debt that continues to be debt due to the Commonwealth until it is repaid.

In 2020, the BSB50215 Diploma of Business is delivered with Victorian and Commonwealth Government funding – eligibility criteria apply. We encourage individuals with disabilities to access government subsidised training.

FAQS

To maximise student learning and deliver industry-based training, we’ve set up classrooms at quality sporting, recreation and community facilities. We partner with industry bodies to make sure our students receive hands-on learning in their chosen industry. Students gain transferable skills that enable them to turn their passion into successful careers.

It’s active, engaged learning that helps set students up for future success.

  • The Sports Industry Program is available in Victoria and Western Australia.
  • The High -Performance Program with Ace Performance is only available in Victoria.
The qualifications within the Sports Industry Program have no listed entry requirements, however, to be eligible for this program individuals must be able to satisfy the following:

  • Successfully completed Year 12 – Individuals who are unable to meet this requirement due to their individual circumstances will be considered on a case by case basis;
  • Successfully completed a SEDA Group Interview Pre-Training Review;
  • Successfully complete a Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) test issued by SEDA Group; and
  • Individuals under the age of 18 must have gained parental/guardian consent to undertake the program

Should individuals have concerns in relation to injuries, physical disabilities or other reasons that may limit their ability to undertake physical activity and/or online training and assessment, they should contact SEDA Group to discuss their concerns prior to enrollment.

The program is full-time and four days a week, and delivered in a blocked and blended learning model.

A ‘regular week’ rarely exists and this keeps your learning exciting and engaging. As well as completing an innovative curriculum program, you will have the opportunity to take on a flexible and industry specific practical placement, take part in structured high-performance sessions, complete dedicated major project planning sessions, and experience regular industry insights and exposure through guest speakers.

Students who are in enrolled in one of the SEDA Group programs may have the opportunity to be involved in running a Major Project in the community that provide a number of positive outcomes for all involved. Through these experiences students have been able to enhance their communication skills, critical thinking and leadership.

You will have the opportunity to plan and implement a real event linked directly to the strategic plan of a peak sporting organisation. You will feel part of the team, learn from industry staff and see your hard work come to life.

You will have the opportunity to develop your understanding of both sourcing sponsorship and utilising different approaches to generate revenue to run your event. There is even the opportunity for you to run your event interstate or abroad!

What’s Involved?

  • Planning
    Students who complete a Major Project are reliable for the planning and organisation of all aspects of their project and any associated travel
  • Execution
    In every project, students are on the ground, increasing the development of their chosen sport in the community. This may be through clinics, tournaments, volunteering in the community or assisting their sporting partner
  • Partnerships
    Some projects are completed in alignment with our elite sporting partners. We have had partner-aligned project groups travel to New Zealand, Malaysia, Tasmania, and Katherine (NT), just to name a few! Our partnerships help provide students the opportunity to have a once in a lifetime trip while gaining invaluable industry experience.
