The Diploma of Business is delivered through a flexible and structured online model, enabling students to engage with industry-relevant learning, assessment and educator support while balancing work and personal commitments. Students progress through a planned sequence of learning across three trimesters, supported by online learning activities, educator-led sessions and industry-connected experiences.

The Diploma of Business belongs to the Business Services Training Package which contains nationally recognised qualifications and units related to business, leadership, administration, customer engagement and workplace operations.

The BSB50120 Diploma of Business (Leadership) requires completion of 12 Units of Competency in total consisting of 5 core units and 7 elective units.

The BSB50120 Diploma of Business (Leadership) is delivered across three trimesters, with learning deliberately sequenced to build from foundational business capabilities through to operational management and applied leadership.

Assessment is designed to provide students with opportunities to demonstrate their knowledge and skills through practical, applied and authentic business contexts.

A range of assessment methods may be used throughout the course, depending on the requirements of each unit of competency, including:

  • Short Answer Questions – written responses that demonstrate understanding and application of key knowledge and concepts.
  • Monitoring Logbooks – used to record, monitor and evaluate the implementation of workplace activities over time.
  • Reflection Portfolios – structured reflections that enable students to evaluate their learning, skill development and application.
  • Applied Quizzes – scenario-based questions requiring students to interpret information, make decisions and apply knowledge in context.
  • Observations – demonstration of practical skills and behaviours in real or simulated workplace contexts.
  • Video or Audio-Visual Recordings – recorded activities used to demonstrate observable skills and behaviours.
  • Discussion Posts – written responses that support the communication and application of ideas in workplace or collaborative contexts.

Payment options:

To be eligible for entry into the BSB50120 Diploma of Business (Leadership), applicants are required to:

  • successfully complete a Language, Literacy, Numeracy and Digital (LLND) assessment; and
  • participate in a pre-training review and interview to determine course suitability.

The pre-training process provides an opportunity to discuss the applicant’s learning needs, study expectations, digital capability and readiness for online study, and to ensure the course is appropriate for their individual goals and circumstances.

  1. Apply – Complete an online application form.
  2. Pre-Enrolment – Complete a Language, Literacy, Numeracy and Digital (LLND) assessment, questionnaire and pre-training interview, all online.
  3. Offer – Successful applicants will receive a Letter of Offer via email.
  4. Accept Your Offer – Accept your offer by the specified deadline. Once accepted, you will receive an invoice for the $150 non-refundable non-tuition fee.
  5. Enrolment – Following payment of the non-tuition fee, you will receive instructions to complete your enrolment. Information about tuition fee payment options, including Fee-for-Service and VET Student Loans for eligible students, will be provided as part of the enrolment process.

The BSB50120 Diploma of Business (Leadership) can provide a pathway to further study with Australian universities and higher education providers. Graduates may be eligible for entry and/or credit towards selected higher education courses, depending on the institution, course and individual eligibility requirements. SEDA continues to work with higher education partners to develop pathway and credit arrangements for graduates of its programs. **
