Student Wellbeing and Support
Your wellbeing matters to us
At SEDA, we know that success in your studies is about more than just the classroom. We take a proactive approach to help you stay engaged and on track with your program.
That’s why we provide a wide range of wellbeing supports to help you feel safe, included, and ready to achieve your goals. Whether it’s study skills, financial help, or personal wellbeing, we’re here to support you every step of the way.
Academic Support
We have a number of Study Readiness programs available (free of charge) that we offer on enrolment that include Language, Literacy and Numeracy, Academic Writing, Digital Literacy and Study Skills. Our goal is to make sure you feel confident and prepared in your learning.
Wellbeing Support
Your physical, mental, and emotional health matters. You’ll have access to confidential wellbeing support via an assigned Student Services Coordinator and our Student Assistance Program (Converge) which offers free 24-hour counselling services available via phone or face to face. We’re here to help you manage challenges and build healthy habits that keep you balanced.
Disability, Access & Inclusion
We’re committed to ensuring that every student can participate fully in training. If you have a disability or specific learning needs, we’ll work with you to put in place reasonable adjustments when deemed appropriate without compromising course integrity. Our Disability and Special Needs Policy and Reasonable Adjustment Policy support equal opportunity and participation for students with a disability, mental health or medical condition that may affect a student’s learning experience.
Financial Assistance
Flexible payment options are available for Fee for Service (FFS) students’ tuition fees via Payment Plans, and our staff can provide guidance to support mechanisms if financial stress is affecting your study.
Tertiary Access Payment
If you live in a regional or rural area, you may be eligible for a Tertiary Access Payment (TAP) provided by Services Australia. This financial aid helps cover the costs of travel or relocation so you can access training on the same basis as students in metropolitan areas.
Career & Pathway Guidance
When you’re ready to take your next step, we’ll help you prepare for further study or employment. As a SEDA student, you’ll have access to one-on-one career guidance, resume and interview support, that set you up for future success.
Cultural Safety & Inclusion
SEDA is an inclusive community where every student belongs. We respect and celebrate diversity, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, LGBTIQ+ students, and students from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds. Our programs are designed to create a culture of safety, belonging, and respect.
Transport Concession
Eligible SEDA students can access public transport concessions to help make travel to and from training more affordable. This includes discounted fares on trains, trams, and buses (state-based conditions apply). This support helps reduce the cost of daily travel so you can get to classes and industry placements with ease.
