We were both very lucky and excited to travel to the Northern Territory with the Parramatta Eels for their round 7 match at TIO Stadium, Darwin. As part of the community team, we landed in Darwin and travelled straight to Katherine to deliver rugby league coaching clinics to the primary school children in the remote areas around this region. It was really rewarding to see how excited and grateful the communities were for the connections the club had built with them. Throughout the trip, we got the opportunity to work with some amazing people within the clubs’ other community partners such as Deadly Choices, NRL NT and SEDA NT but the biggest highlight was definitely game day in Darwin. It was amazing to see how all the different departments worked together as a team in such a big event. The experiences definitely pushed us out of our comfort zone but helped us develop more confidence and leadership skills in new settings.
