Explore new pathways in a supportive environment, where you’ll gain practical experience and discover where your passions truly lie. With opportunities to undertake hands-on learning, build strong networks, and get real-life experience, you’ll be given the skills and knowledge to step into your career with confidence. Alternatively, you may choose to further your education, taking advantage of our extensive partnerships with direct entry into 15+ universities and higher education providers across Australia.2

International Study Tours

Take your sport and business journey to the next level. As part of our program, you’ll have the chance to join an International Study Tour where you’ll gain exclusive behind-the-scenes access to top global sporting organisations. In 2025, planned trips will see students travel to the US or UK to attend major sporting events, tour iconic venues, visit leading universities and take in the sights of some amazing destinations.

Location: The program will be based at Netball Central in Sydney Olympic Park, New South Wales.

Format: SEDA delivers via a blended learning model incorporating three days face-to-face per week, one day teacher-led virtual classroom per week, and self-directed learning.

Duration: 43 weeks including 36 weeks delivery over 4 x 9-week blocks.   

Upon successful completion of the Netball NSW Sport & Business Program, graduates will receive the following qualifications:

The Diploma of Sport belongs to the Sport, Fitness and Recreation Training Package and has 14 Units of Competency (UoC). These include the following:

3 HLTAID001 Provide First Aid is a pre-requisite for the Diploma of Sport and is to be completed PRIOR to the first census date, (Week 4, Block 1) through an external provider.

The Diploma of Business belongs to the Business Services Training Package and has 12 Units of Competency (UoC). These include the following:

  • BSBTWK503 Manage meetings

  • SITXMPR015 Obtain and manage sponsorship

Study a curriculum that is directly developed alongside industry experts. 

Students will be assessed using a range of different methods including but not limited to observations, projects, written assessments, portfolios, role plays and research tasks.

Develop, review, modify and evaluate psychological support strategies for community-based athletes in football. Learn about various sport psychology tools, techniques and concepts.

Develop a marketing strategy and business plan to promote programs, events and/or activities. Learn about analysing and evaluating market data and how to manage risks when developing business opportunities.

Research corporate sustainability practices and develop sustainability policies and procedures for sporting venues. Learn about how elite sporting clubs remain viable in a competitive market.

Learn the skills to be successful working in a business environment. Lead your own personal development, further develop your emotional intelligence and learn how to develop these skills in colleagues. Research, analyse and expand your knowledge of critical and creative thinking skills for use in the workplace.

Design and develop a local, interstate, or international event to improve participation, development and fan engagement outcomes for Netball NSW. Learn about topics such as project and event planning principles and engagement strategies.

Deliver a local, interstate, or international event to improve participation, development and fan engagement outcomes for Netball NSW linked to your work in the Project Planning Area of Study. Learn about topics such as project and event delivery principles and reporting.

Develop, implement and review an integrated coaching program for football participants and teams. Learn about a range of coaching philosophies, theories and frameworks.

Present integrity in sport and anti-doping information to community-based footballers. Learn about the legal and anti-doping requirements for football, as well as other sports integrity related issues such as fairness, ethics, gambling, match-fixing and discrimination.

Develop an understanding to implement and manage business resources in line with a project or event connected to partnership activities.

Learn about communicating with stakeholders, identifying funding prospects and presentation skills.

Develop a detailed career plan (MyPLAN) and professional portfolio to kickstart your career.

HLTAID011 Provide First Aid is to be completed as a pre-requisite by Week 4 of Block 1 through an external provider (student choice) under a fee-for-service arrangement.

To be eligible for the Netball NSW Sport & Business Program, you must:

  • Attend an interview and provide evidence in support of your application
  • Successfully complete a Pre-Training Review (PTR), and Language, Literacy, Numeracy, and Digital (LLND) test issued by SEDA
  • Individuals under the age of 18 must have gained parental/guardian consent to undertake the program

  1. Apply – Complete an application form.
  2. Pre-Enrolment – Complete a Language, Literacy, Numeracy, and Digital (LLND) test, a Pre-Training Review (PTR), and attend an interview, all online. 
  3. Offer – Successful applicants will be sent an offer via email.
  4. Enrolment – Once an offer is accepted, applicants will be required to complete their enrolment and be given access to our Learning Management System.

Graduates of Sport & Business Programs powered by SEDA can gain direct entry2 into a range of courses with leading tertiary education providers.

Graduates may also receive credit points toward select units required to complete a course. The number of credits will vary by education provider, with a maximum of 8 credits (equivalent to 1 year’s worth of study) available for select courses.2
